Paper + Plastick Records has begun a practice of spotlighting artists in its website and webstore. Spotlighted artists will have a featured free download in the Paper + Plastick webstore. The first spotlighted band is Detroit, MI’s Clockwork.
“Spotlighting a band is a way for us to support and represent bands that we like,” says Paper + Plastick owner Vinnie Fiorello. “We can’t put out everything, but this is a cool and easy way for us to help get out the word about certain bands and it’s free music, which no one is against.”
Fans of the label should view the spotlighted artists as bands that come highly recommended from the label. Everyone can now download a free digital EP from Clockwork here. The four-song EP is a prelude to a forthcoming full-length from Clockwork, which is expected out in early 2013.

The band has a melodic, emotional punk foundation, playing a brand of pop-punk that harkens more to The Descendents and Lifetime than Blink-182 or New Found Glory. They still manage to retain a catchy style that makes for easy sing-alongs and is enough to get anyone interested on first listen.
The new digital EP was recorded in January 2012 at Bricktop Studios in Chicago, IL by Andy Nelson (Weekend Nachos).
